The Process Kicks Off!
So, we held a public meeting Jan. 25 2011 to kick off a facilitated process, trying to get us as a community to agreement on where to put a skatepark. The meeting drew about 25 people.
This meeting was part of a longer process that should finish this spring. It's organized and facilitated by Les Carter, on behalf of the Rossland Skatepark Association. This meeting was to get agreement on the ground rules of the process and to consider the criteria for judging the candidate sites. It also clearly spelled out the kind of information people thought we needed to make the decision properly.
The next (and last) meeting will use the ground rules, criteria, and information to judge the potential sites. If you want to help with the info gathering, let us know. We need all the help we can get.
The Meeting Results
Here is the facilitator's report from the meeting: Facilitator's report. You can also get hard copies at City Hall.
Here are the unedited comments from all the meeting participants, commenting on:
- the expected outcomes
- the ground rules
- hopes and concerns
- criteria for site selection
- information needed
And here is a guide to the process -- the document that Les produced for the Jan. 25 meeting, and the basis for comments: Process guide.
Thanks for coming out to those that did! To those that didn't, see you at the next meeting in the spring!
Yer humble servants, the RSA
